The other day, on a whim I purchased tickets to see one of my favourite dance companies, Keigwin and Company at the Joyce theatre in Manhattan. Of course, this meant a multistop road trip.
First Stop Columbus Circle......
And The Museum of Arts and Design.......
This museum was a true suprise, as were the exibits.
slash....paper under the knife was wonderful. Large and small paper sculptures.
bigger, better, more.....the art of viola frey was equaly unique.....
Robert, a restaurant, located on the ninth floor is dramatic with an equally dramatic view....
A lovely spot to take a break after a stroll in Central Park.....
Next stop.......
Chelsea Piers and Chelsea Brewing Company for dinner and a sunset over the Hudson River....
It is Manhattans only microbrewery and located in a multipier sports complex on the Hudson. The view is stunning; the food was very good but oriented to beer drinkers and not fine dining. It as just fine. Saturday is Satourday, they offer tours of the brewery. It is also located near The High Line and is a good stop after a stroll on one of, if not the only elevated horizontal parks in the world.
Chelsea Market is also near by and worth a visit.
Across from Chelsea Piers is the Frank Gehry designed IAC building, the world headquarters for Barry Diller’s media and Internet empire.
In the evening it is a tower of light and a”jewel” in the skyline.
Across the street from the IAC building is the new Jean Nouvel apartment complex....
Some how from this view both fit.....
On a recent walking tour sponsored by The Municipal Art Society of New York our guide indicated this corner and the combination of buildings was possibly the most interesting architecturally site in Manhattan.
Next to Nouvel's project is a women’s prison.....
A tower of light.as viewed from The High Line......
Sunset from Chelsea Brewing Company
The Chelsea Modern........
An upscale apartment building.....
It is located a few blocks from the new Jean Nouvel apartment building....
A similar apartment building, not pictured, is located at about Hudson and West Twelfth.....
The new face of Chelsea?
Last stop.....
For dance, this venue is perfect, not a bad seat in the house, small, and intimite......
As always Larry Keigwin did not disappoint.....
He has a great sense of humour and always makes you laugh, at a dance performance!
No disrespect but .......
What I think I/we like best, no one looks like a dancer....
They are amazingly fit, controlled, professional and move effortlessly from ballet to hip hop to street to modern …
I hope they return to The Joyce......
